Thomas Giancristiano
Thomas Giancristiano’s career in Massachusetts’s public schools represents his lifelong dedication to the cause of public education. Since he first became an educator, Thomas Giancristiano has held a number of administrative positions in Winthrop, MA, and the Boston Public Schools. While successfully completing his MA in Education from Boston State, Thomas Giancristiano began his work in the field with the Boston Public Schools. As an Administrative Assistant and a Curriculum Coordinator, Thomas Giancristiano gained significant experience in public school administration. In addition, Thomas Giancristiano diversified his financial experience by owning and operating two restaurants in Massachusetts. The bearer of a CAES in School Business administration from Boston College, Thomas Giancristiano brought his flexibility and financial acumen to his position as Superintendent of the Winthrop Public Schools. After serving as the Principal at Winthrop Middle School, Thomas Giancristiano oversaw the district’s budget and made difficult decisions regarding staffing and curriculum with assiduity and professionalism. In his post as Superintendent from 2000 to 2005, Thomas Giancristiano worked to implement technology initiatives, improving the quality of education throughout his district even in the face of state budget shortfalls. Thomas Giancristiano also oversaw the opening of two new elementary schools in Winthrop, the Arthur T. Cummings Elementary and the William Gorman/Fort Banks Elementary.
